Tree Planting collection for Science Week

The theme for the 2019 Galway Science & Technology Festival is Climate Action, and we had hoped to plant our trees on Monday 11th November but due to Climate Change the weather remained too mild to remove the trees from the nursery.

We have now taken delivery of 2,000 trees from Coillte and we will have another 1,000 trees available at Dangan Nurseries thanks to the support and sponsorship of Aerogen.

Trees for schools will be available to collect from Dangan Nurseries from Monday 18th November and we are asking all schools to register for their four tree allocation and plant them during that week.  To highlight the event on social media we are asking primary schools to participate in Superhero Tuesday and if possible plant their trees on Tuesday 19th November or sometime during that week and get your class to dress up as Superheros.

First, we need you to register for the trees on our school booking form – this is a separate request for booking a workshop to visit your school.  Then trees will be available from Monday 18th November at Dangan House Nurseries, Lower Dangan,  H91 VN53)  To Register https://galwayscience.ie/for-schools/

Plant your trees either on school grounds or in the local community and share your photo on social media and tag @galwayscience and @aerogen with the hashtags #galwayscience #believeinscience #scienceweek and the best three photos will win a €200 voucher for Dangan Nurseries sponsored by Aerogen.

To understand the importance of trees and how to plant a tree go to SFI’s Science Week website https://www.sfi.ie/engagement/science-week/tree-planting-initiative/

We would like to extend our gratitude to Aerogen and Coillte for this initiative and to Science Foundation Ireland for the allocation.
