I’m a Cell EXPLORERS Scientist (www.cellexplorers.imascientist.ie) is an online chat activity where young people (aged 8-15 years old) can log on with their teachers and chat with Cell EXPLORERS volunteers about all things science!
- This activity is live & online – students log onto the website with their teachers in their classrooms
- Perfect for social distant engagement with scientists!
- Requires independent access to computers/tablets
- Each session lasts 40 minutes and is moderated by a Cell EXPLORERS staff member
- The chat session is text-based: students type questions into the online platform for the Cell EXPLORERS scientists to answer. No media can be shared.
- Each session has between 2-4 Cell EXPLORERS scientists to chat with
- Teachers and students can see all messages sent to and from the Cell EXPLORERS scientists
- Students can ask questions about science, the Cell EXPLORERS scientists’ research/course at college, their daily life as a scientist and their hobbies/interests.
Available times during the week for the 40 mins session:
- Mondays: 11:10
- Tuesdays: 12:10
- Wednesdays: 11:10
- Thursdays: 11.10 or 2:10
- Fridays: 10:10

Both GMIT and NUI Galway Cell Explorers teams will deliver ‘Fantastic DNA in a box’ and its associated live sessions.
